Ruth is a former attorney who owns OKC s premier cake & sugar art shop. She has been featured on 3 Food Network specials from the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show. Ruth has competed in shows across the country and has won over 100 first place ribbons, as well as two Gold medals at the OSSAS. She operates the Oklahoma Sugar Art Academy, where she teaches and brings in outside teachers. Ruth also teaches across the country, bringing her love of sugar to those around her. Ruth s cakes have been featured in publications such as Elegant Bride Magazine, American Cake Decorating Magazine, Mailbox News (including 2 covers), Cakes & Sugarcraft and the 2008 Sugarcraft Calendar. Ruth is a longtime member of ICES and currently serves on the ICES Board of Directors.
Students will learn to mold a gumpaste doll face, to paint the face, to free hand model the body and to dress the fairy in flower-inspired clothing. Students will learn to create and decorate gumpaste wings to add to their fairies. Depending on speed of student, each student will leave with one to two flower fairies.

Painting on Sugar - Cocoa Butter and Background Effects
Students learn to paint in food color with cocoa butter and other mediums. Students will paint 2 to 3 plaques, depending on their speed. They will achieve traditional cocoa butter painting, as well as colored cocoa butter painting. They will also learn the Betty VanNorstrand method of background painting for enhancing floral arrangements on cakes.

Students will learn to mold a baby face using a commercial mold, to paint the face, to model the baby body free hand, to create gum paste wings and to paint/decorate the baby s clothes. These will resemble the famous Anne Geddes style of babies. Students will finish one to two babies, depending on their speed.

Painting on Sugar-Watercolor, Pen&Ink, Oil Effects FULL
Students learn to paint in food color with alcohol, water, oil and other mediums. Students will paint 2 to 3 plaques, depending on their speed. They will achieve effects similar to pen & ink drawings, watercolor paintings and oil color paintings.

Free-hand Figure Modeling - Mermaids and Beach Bums
Students will learn to model by hand in rolled fondant figures appropriate for all the fall and winter holidays, including: Pumpkins, ghosts, witches, turkeys, snowmen, reindeer and Santa Claus.
